A Discovery Call is a free, 20-minute session to determine if we’re a good fit. Paid consultations are working sessions where we provide detailed guidance and strategy tailored to your business.

What type of clients do you work with?

Do you offer virtual consultations?

Yes! All of our consultations and services are available virtually via Zoom.

Dunham Tax Professionals LLC offer virtual consulting services. With today’s technology, we have the ability to use multiple ways to communicate and verify information. To conduct business we use the following forms of communication: email, telephone and Zoom video calls. With us serving you virtually, you have the ability to conduct business no matter where you are in the world. If you have any questions, contact us.

Do I need to be located in Michigan to work with you?

No. We serve clients nationwide and provide guidance on state-specific compliance where needed.

Bookkeeping Questions

Do I need a bookkeeper if I have an accountant? What’s the difference between the two?

Accountants and bookkeepers perform distinctly different tasks for the businesses they serve. Bookkeepers are responsible for on-going maintenance of their clients’ general ledgers. A bookkeeper’s common responsibilities consist of:

  • Compiling data on a daily basis
  • Categorizing expenses in the general ledger
  • Reviewing the general ledger for accuracy
  • Reconciling bank statements against the general ledger
  • Generating financial statements

Accountants use the accurate and up-to-date general ledger maintained by the bookkeeper to provide advisory services, such as:

How much is the bookkeeping service?

What bookkeeping software do you recommend?

We primarily use and recommend QuickBooks Online, but we can also assist with Wave, Zoho Books, and others.

Do you offer ongoing monthly bookkeeping?

Yes, we offer monthly and quarterly service packages depending on your business needs.

Do I need to clean up my books before I hand them over to you?

No, we’ll include clean up for you as part of our work estimate. We will setup your industry-specific general ledger in the cloud accounting solution that best fits your needs.

Should my bookkeeper be local?

Small businesses no longer need to work with a local bookkeeper. The internet and cloud technology makes it easy for bookkeepers to securely access their clients books anytime, anywhere. Business owners can now hire bookkeeper who truly understands their industry and operations, instead of hiring the local, community bookkeeper by default.

Yes. After our session, you’ll receive a summary of key recommendations and next steps tailored to your goals.

Is this for new or existing businesses?

Both! We work with start-ups who need direction and structure, as well as seasoned business owners who want to improve efficiency or profitability.

Can I schedule recurring consulting sessions?

Absolutely. We offer ongoing strategy support—monthly or quarterly—to help you stay accountable and move your business forward.

Can I book if I already formed my business?

Yes. If you need to review your setup or catch up on compliance, our consultations can help you get back on track.

Can you help me choose the right entity for my business?

Absolutely. We’ll walk through your goals, explain entity types (LLC, S Corp, etc.), and help you make the best choice.

Will you file my documents for me?

We provide step-by-step guidance and support, including using services like Bizee.com (formerly Incfile), but we do not file documents on your behalf.

Payroll Setup & Management

What do you need from me to get started with payroll setup?

We’ll need basic business details, employee/contractor info, pay schedule preferences, and tax information. We’ll send a prep checklist once you book.

Will you manage payroll for me each month?

We can provide ongoing support or set you up to run payroll yourself. Ongoing management is available as a separate monthly service.

Do you use Gusto or QuickBooks Payroll?

We work with both, depending on what’s best for your business. We’ll help you choose or optimize the system you’re using.

Can you help with W-2s and 1099s?

Yes, we can support you in generating year-end payroll tax forms and ensuring compliance with federal and state requirements.

Quickbooks Setup & Training Questions

What’s included in QuickBooks Setup?

We’ll set up your chart of accounts, connect your bank/credit accounts, customize settings, and ensure everything is tailored to your business type.

Do you clean up existing QuickBooks accounts?

Yes. If your books are a mess, we can help clean them up, correct miscategorized transactions, and bring everything up to date.

Please note: Cleanup services are not included in the standard QuickBooks Setup & Training package and will incur additional fees based on the volume and complexity of your records. We will discuss during your discovery call.

Is training included in the setup service?

Yes. We include one-on-one training so you feel confident using QuickBooks for invoicing, tracking expenses, and pulling reports.

What version of QuickBooks do you work with?

We work with QuickBooks Online only, as it’s the most accessible and user-friendly for small businesses.

Start-up Consulting Questions

I have a business idea but don’t know where to start—can you help?

Yes! Our New Business Start-Up Consultation is designed to help you clarify your idea, choose the right structure, and get set up with the right tools and systems.

Do you help with branding, logos, or websites?

Yes, we offer branding and design services—including logo creation, simple websites, business cards, letterheads, and branded templates—as an optional add-on to your consultation. These services are not included in the standard Start-Up Consultation but can be added based on your business needs.

What’s the difference between your Formation and Start-Up consultations?

Formation is focused on legal setup (entity, EIN, etc.), while Start-Up includes formation plus tools, organization, strategy, and systems.

Systems & Process Optimization

What does a Systems Optimization service include?

We review how you run your business and create streamlined processes for onboarding, service delivery, file sharing, and more—often using tools like SuiteDash, Google Drive, and Xodo Sign.

What tools do you work with?

SuiteDash, QuickBooks, Gusto, Mailchimp, Acuity, Google Workspace, Xodo Sign, and more.

Do you help set up the tools during the Digital Workflow Strategy session?

No. This session is for planning and strategy only. We’ll give you recommendations and a clear action plan—but setup and implementation are part of our full Systems & Process Optimization service.

Is this just for established businesses?
